The Housing Law in Catalonia has not imposed a generalized decrease in rental prices, but has caused a significant reduction in the number of signed contracts .

In the 15 most populated municipalities , rental contracts have fallen a 21% in the last nine months , while prices have had an unequal evolution.

In Barcelona , prices have dropped a 6.4% in the last year , while in other tensioning areas the reduction has been the 3.7% . However, the fall in the number of contracts suggests that regulation could be affecting the available rental offer .

In addition, a 44.9% increase in seasonal rental contracts has been observed , indicating that some owners could be opting for this modality for avoid regulation .

In summary, although the law has achieved reduce prices in some areas , it has also caused a decrease in traditional rentals and an increase in seasonal ones , which could affect the housing offer for the tenants.
